The KEY to a SubLIME Dessert
The KEY to a SubLIME Dessert
By: Lauren Roberts
When it comes to signing up and bringing a dessert for a party, we often think about the desserts that are the easiest to make like cookies. Don't get me wrong, cookies are great. You can make a ton of them in a short amount of time, and let's not forget the variety and endless options cookies offer us. However, dessert is a great way for us to step out our comfort zone and offer something besides traditional desserts on the table.
We've all heard of Key Lime Pie, but have any of us ever heard of Key Lime Quick Bread? Yes, that's right, key lime bread and trust me, it'll be the best thing you'll ever bring to a party (and your taste buds).
You can prepare a sweet-tart loaf of citrusy quick bread in a flash with the convenient key lime-infused mix. Below is the recipe, along with instructions on how to make the dessert.
Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 60 minutes Servings: 10 to 12
Ingredients:
1 package Key Lime quick bread mix
8 Tbs. (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
2 eggs
1/2 cup (4 fl oz.) milk
Preheat an oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 4-by-8-inch (10-by-20-cm) loaf pan.
In a large bowl, combine the the quick bread mix, butter, eggs and milk and stir until smooth and blended. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 55 to 60 minutes.
Transfer the pan to a wire rack and let cook for 10 minutes, then turn loaf out onto the rack. Serve warm or at room temperature. Serves 10 to 12 people.
Feel like your bread is missing something? Add a lime glaze! All you need is 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, it's a simple as that!
P.S.,
Don't forget the ice cream!
